What are PDO Threads?
Threads can be used to smooth wrinkled, crepey skin by replacing and adding collagen and elastin to damaged areas to restore the healthy foundation of the skin.
They are sterile hypodermic cannulas preloaded with an absorbable PDO suture thread which is absorbable and will build your own natural collagen and give glowing skin through biostimulation.
The thread is fully absorbed in about 4-6 months for results up to 12-24 months.
The lift and smooth threads are often used with dermal fillers to create a scaffold under the skin which will provide multiple short and long term benefits of total facial esthetics.
How does it work?
The threads work in two ways. Building your own collagen through the body’s natural healing process and also creating biostimulation so you skin develops better blood flow which will tighten your skin and improve the skin texture and look.
Two types of procedures with PDO threads
Smooth PDO Threads- Smooth threads are placed under your skin in a hashtag pattern which brings back the lost blood flow to the area which will repair and tighten skin and build collagen to a specific area. These threads will build a solid foundation of new collagen production providing natural results.
Lift PDO Threads- Lifting threads are used to produce an immediate visible result of sagging skin which will get better over time. Lifting threads are designed to pull up and re-drape the skin.
This will restore that beautiful V shape to your face and have the same benefits of the smooth threads giving you an immediate benefit that increase over a 6 month period.
Lift PDO Threads - Non surgical facelift
Thread Lift is one of the most effective ways to lift the loose skin without surgery. As we age, the effects of gravity become more noticeable on our faces, especially as our facial support structure weakens and we lose facial fat. The areas that are generally affected are the eyebrows, areas around the eyes, the cheeks, jowls, and neck. The result is a longer, more square-shaped and older-looking face.
Traditionally, most people would look into plastic surgery to get a facelift as there weren’t very effective noninvasive treatments to lift the loose skin. However, now there is an effective nonsurgical option that can lift and contour and suspend the sagging tissues on the face and neck, especially for those that need only minimal to moderate rejuvenation or for those that do not wish to undergo surgical intervention.
We at, Renu MedSpa Belair, are thrilled to offer this new PDO absorbable Thread Lift and Smooth procedure to our clients. The PDO Thread Lift procedure safely and instantly lifts up loose skin on the face and neck with minimal downtime.
Who is a good candidate for PDO Thread lift?
For the right candidate, the Thread Lift can provide a pleasing, natural rejuvenation of the face with the benefit of no general anesthesia, rapid recovery and very minimal cost compared to a facelift or a neck lift. Thread Lift may be combined with other, more minor surgical procedures, such as Botox, Injectable Fillers, microneedling or skin resurfacing lasers.
IDEAL CANDIDATES FOR THREAD LIFTS
What is the recovery like after a thread lift?
Pain can usually be managed with acetaminophen (Tylenol) and/or ibuprofen (Advil). If stronger pain medicine is desired, it can be prescribed by our physician. You may have mild swelling and bruising for few days. Icing the treated area as well as arnica is recommended for the first few days. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity for few days.
What kind of results can be expected after the novathreads and how long does the results last?
The result of the Thread Lift is immediate and even more noticeable after 1-2 weeks when all the swelling and potential bruising has resolved. The results will continue to enhance as your skin produces even more collagen over the next several months which will also make the results of the thread lift last longer than the life of the threads. More threads can always be inserted down the line to continue to improve the results and prolong the results even more. If you choose to have a more intensive surgical procedure or facelift at a later point, this can be done without any problems as the PDO sutures will be absorbed completely without leaving any kind of scarring.
What are the side effects on the thread lift?
Like any procedure using a needle, there is a chance of bruising and swelling. However, in most people, the bruising and swelling is minimal and resolve in less than a week. There is some post-op discomfort which usually resolves quickly in most patients. If the sutures, for some reason, become visible underneath the skin or migrate, it can be easily removed if necessary and new threads can be placed.
